Covid19 Wedding in New Zealand

So many couples around New Zealand and globally have had their wedding plans put on hold due to  Coronavirus.  Even the countries that have not been effected with zero cases, will still be feeling the impacts of not being able to hold international guests for weddings in their country.   Rarotonga was a great winter wedding destination for New Zealanders.

It may be some time before what we used to know as a 'traditional wedding' will resume.

Level 2 and Level 2.5 in Auckland have changed the way weddings are conducted.  With only 10 guests allowed in Auckland at level 2.5 it means that your guest list will severely be cut. Level 2 outside of Auckland permits 100 guests, so as long as your wedding guest list doesn’t exceed this, you can go ahead with your ceremony and reception. You may decide though, this is not how you want your dream wedding to be. You may forego your wedding date and change it to another date.

To try and help ease the burden, if your date should change, we offer the following tips:

Acknowledge the date and your feelings about the situation, and make a plan to get through it.  You shouldn't feel guilty about your wedding day not being what you imagined it would be.  Your sacrifice, it not less important than what everyone else may be going through.

You could get dressed up and have a date night at home or plan a virtual celebration with your friends and family online.

At the end of the day, concentrate on the things you can be grateful for.  People’s safety should be paramount in all of your decisions.

Another option is to plan a two part wedding.  You have the wedding ceremony with 10 guests say, then do the wedding reception later.   This gets the legal formalities done and you are then legally married.  If time is of the essence, this may be a good option for you. At the end of the day, the wedding is yours to make your own.   Things that you may do are:

An elopement.

A friend to do a mock wedding ceremony at your reception (after you are legally married)  It is up to you whether you tell your guests that you have already been legally married.

A big party in place of your reception

Lastly make sure you document your wedding moments  in either two parts or one.  Hire a professional photographer to document all of your celebrations.   Talk to us, we can split our photography packages over two event days.
