Howick Historical VillageEast Auckland Wedding VenueThe suburb of Howick is rich in history. Howick was named after the Rt. Hon. Sir Henry George Grey, Viscount Howick. Howick is also the name of a village in Northumberland, England. In 1847 a sailing ship arrived at Howick Beach from England, with the first of the Fencible soldiers. The Fencibles were retired soldiers who were used as a home guard to protect Auckland, from the Maori Waikato tribes. All Saints Anglican Church was the first building built in Howick, it is the second oldest wooden church in New Zealand. Shamrock Cottage, was the second built and was a wet canteen. Both of these buildings can be seen in Howick today. The rest of the buildings were saved and transferred to Howick Historical Village located in Lloyd Elsmore Park, off Pakuranga Highway. You can be transformed back in time to the 1800s and have your wedding set amongst these beautiful historic buildings. Howick Historical Village is a historic set of buildings which make up a village. You have many options, the option of just hiring the grounds for your ceremony and photography, or the option to host an afternoon tea as well in Bell House or you can use suppliers for your reception at Bell House. They can accommodate up to 70 guests. A personal favourite location of mine in East Auckland. This was the place that I was married at. There is a cute church inside the village and this is one of the locations where your ceremony can take place. We have been lucky enough to photograph a wedding here. Our photos from this wedding are below.
